MISSING CD AUDIO IN NEW MEDIA PLAYER
|0| 07-19-94
Systems that are shipped with the new Navigator include the Media Player (MPLAYER.EXE)
from Video for Windows 1.1a. Occasionally the "CD Audio" option may
disappear from the Device menu. To correct this error, perform the following steps:
"BROKEN" SOUND AND VIDEO WHEN STARTING NAVIGATOR
|3| 05-19-94
The Mime video animation or "Welcome to Packard Bell Navigator" voice may be
slowed or paused by a pop up message. The message reads "Please wait... The fax
support feature of Microsoft Mail is loading." This message shows that fax
support is loading and is not an error. MS Mail fax support is automatically loaded
after a delay specified in WIN.INI. The video or audio pause is due to the delay being too
short. Thedelay may be lengthened by specifying a larger number for
"LoadDelay="
(default = 55 seconds) in the [MAPI] section of WIN.INI. Increase the value to
70. The auto-load feature of MS Mail fax support may be disabled by removing
"C:\WINDOWS\MAPIAPP.EXE" from the "run=" line of WIN.INI.

555358

SLOW PERFORMANCE USING WFW 3.11 AND A CD-ROM
|0| 02-07-94
If 32-bit file access is enabled in Windows for Workgroups and SMARTDRIVE is loaded, you
may experience slow performance accessing a CD-ROM drive. To speed up CD-ROM access,
disable 32-bit file access. To do so:
VIDEO POWER DOWN AND MOUSE ACTIVITY
|3| 11-12-93
Video power down turns off the video circuitry on the motherboard after a certain amount
of time specified in setup. This feature only monitors the keyboard for activity but
not the mouse. This means that using the mouse will not enable the video unless you
tap a key.
